The Oncology Nutrition (ON) DPG continues to provide members with professional resources, materials, continuing education and professional development, networking, and leadership opportunities.
Membership

Administration

- ON DPG Organizational Chart, Strategic Plan, Policies and Procedures updated and revised to reflect current practice and alignment with future goals - May, 2009

- ON DPG Executive Committee (EC), Board, and Committee Chair job descriptions updated -May, 2009

- ON DPG was represented at the following meetings:

-ADA Food & Nutrition Conference & Expo (FNCE) Chicago, October, 2008
-ADA Leadership Institute, June, 2009
-Public Policy Workshop (PPW) and teleconferences
-Spring Executive Committee Planning Retreat, May, 2009
- ON members participated in ADA projects, task forces, and policy reviews. ON DPG was represented on the specialty certification panel, exam development committee, and question writing team.
- ON DPG completed a revision of the Standards of Practice (SOP) and Standards of Professional Performance (SOPP) for Oncology Dietitians to be published in Journal of American Dietetic Association - February, 2010.
- CSO (Certified Specialist Oncology) board certification exams were held by CDR in September and March. There are currently 218 CSO RDs representing 40 states.

Financial Outcomes:
The DPG experienced a net loss in investment revenue of $24,658 due to the downturn in the economy. Additional expenditure was allocated to upgrade the website.
The current ON DPG Total Net Asset (Reserve status) is $140, 939.

Member Services

- Electronic Mailing List (EML) has over 500 active members, with average participation 5 to 25 messages per day.

- Website www.oncologynutrition.org continues to provide resources, networking, products for members and the public.

- Six practice based Special Interest Groups (SIGs) provide networking and specialty practice material and projects: Hospice/palliative care, Pediatric, Research, Survivorship, Prevention, Complementary, and Integrative Care.

- E-blast announcements provided 20 beneficial updates, alerts and announcements to members via email.

- The ON DPG sponsored a priority session at FNCE with American Institute for Cancer Research (AICR) presenting the new World Expert Report on Nutrition, Physical Activity and Cancer Prevention, with speakers Walter Willett, MD, MPH Nutrition Epidemiologist, and Karen Collins, MS, RD

Awards

- Connie San Andres-Robles Distinguished ON DPG Service Award for 2008 was presented to ON DPG member, and past chair Carol Frankmann, MS, LD, CNSD, RD, CSO.

- The 2009 ON DPG Awards of Excellence in Oncology Nutrition Research was presented to Donna Scaffidi, RD.

The ON DPG provides specialized oncology nutrition publications and continues work on future publications to education members.
